Uematsu joined Square in 1986, where he met Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. Uematsu, a self-taught musician, began playing the piano at the age of twelve, with English songwriter Elton John as his biggest influence. Sometimes referred to as the "Beethoven of video games music", he appeared five times in the top 20 of the annual Classic FM Hall of Fame. He is considered to be one of the most famous and respected composers in the video game community. Nobuo Uematsu ( 植松 伸夫, Uematsu Nobuo, born March 21, 1959) is a Japanese video game composer, best known for scoring the majority of titles in the Final Fantasy series.
